In an effort to keep the motoring public safe, during the winter months, IDOT sprays bridges with salt solution to prevent accidents. This video gives an overview of the process.

The IDOT Secretary joined Southern Illinois University President Glenn Poshard, State Senator James Clayborne, Southwestern Illinois Community College President Georgia Costello, Deputy Chief of Staff for the Governor Clayton Harris to sign an agreement creating a Construction Prep Training program to ensure a trained diversified workforce for future road construction projects including the New Mississippi River Bridge.
