| August 25, 2010 - ITEP Application Update: E-mail
Notification – the e-mail notification received once an ITEP
application has been Finalized and Submitted thru the on-line
process incorrectly states that the final deadline for submittal of
attachments is August 19, 2010. As described in the application
instructions, one copy of the entire application plus five
additional copies of the attachments are required to be submitted to
IDOT within three days of the submittal date of the on-line
application. Given the August 31, 2010 deadline for on-line
applications the final deadline for attachments is September 3,
2010. June 21, 2010 – Transportation Secretary Gary Hannig announces the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP) is now accepting on-applications for the 2010 program (see attached announcement).

ILLINOIS TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM (ITEP)
ITEP provides funding for community based projects that expand travel choices and enhance the transportation experience by improving the cultural, historic, aesthetic and environmental aspects of our transportation infrastructure. Project sponsors may receive up to 80 percent reimbursement for eligible project costs. The remaining 20 percent is the responsibility of the project sponsor. A project must qualify as one of the 12 eligible categories listed in the ITEP Guidelines Manual and it must relate to surface transportation to be eligible for funding.
Applications, Guidelines and Instructions
All applications submitted in 2010 must be entered by the on-line application process.
All on-line applications must be submitted by 4:30 PM (CST), Tuesday, August 31, 2010
In addition to the on-line submittal you must submit to IDOT within three (3) working days of the date of your final on-line application submittal:
- one (1) hard copy of the entire application, including attachments, plus
- five (5) additional copies of the attachments
Final deadline: All hard copies of applications and attachments must be delivered to IDOT by Close of Business (4:30 PM CST) on Friday, September 3, 2010
Projects in an urbanized area over 50,000 in population must also submit a hard copy of the entire application (with attachments) to the appropriate Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO)
Applications received beyond the deadline will not be accepted

2010 Guidelines Manual
(IDOT is working to get a version of the 2010 ITEP application available for
users to download and print in its entirety. The on-line application itself
cannot be printed until it has been finalized and submitted)
Illinois Green
Streets Initiative - The Green Streets program will not be offered as a
separate program in 2010. This type of improvement can be included under the
Landscape and Scenic Beautification category of the ITEP program which provides
more flexibility.

December 18, 2009:
Governor Pat Quinn today announced communities in the
Chicagoland-area will benefit from approximately $10 million in enhancement
funds for landscaping and beautification projects. The funding is a part of the
Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP), a federally funded program
designed to improve the quality of life in Illinois by promoting alternative
transportation, such as bike and hike trails, streetscape and beautification,
and preserving transportation resources. The latest round of awards includes 68
projects statewide totaling $22 million.

September 18, 2009 update:
Governor Pat Quinn announced September 17, 2009 approval of
27 enhancement projects to be funded with American Recovery and Reinvestment
Act (ARRA) Enhancement funds.
