Interstate 270 Construction Projects

Project Descriptions and Locations

Currently there are 3 projects continuing to be constructed by the Department along the corridor of I-270 from the Mississippi River to the ILL 157 interchange.

  1. An overhead lighting contract will extend from the Mississippi River to the IL 3 interchange. Light pole foundations on the concrete parapet wall of the river bridge and the canal bridge will be repaired and 110 light poles will be replaced. It is estimated this project will last from mid-June 2008 to the end of November 2008.

  2. Two projects installing and modifying cameras that monitor traffic movements will be underway from August 2008 into spring of 2009. These projects will only involve a minor number of intermittent lane closures at two locations.
